Season Archive

Sunday March 20th Exhibition vs Clearview (T 1-1)

Although an exhibition , everyone still gave it their full effort. A very strong first period by the Hawks, was followed by a decent second period and a somewhat scrambly third period. Highlight of the night was Ashley scoring her first goal of the season. Way to go Ashley!

Saturday March 19th Exhibition vs Bantam B Goldenhawks (W 2-0)

Just a friendly match against the Bantam B team to keep everyone active.

Sunday Mar 6th Playoffs Round 2 vs Markham/Stouffville Stars (L 4-2)

Well this was another very exciting game from start to finish that could have gone either way. Goals for the Hawks were scored by Bianca and Rachael and both assists went to Emma. Well Done girls. But the Stars scored three times during the game plus an empty net goal to finish the game 4 -2. Congratulations to the Stars who now advance to play Whitby in the finals. That's it for League play this season but the girls will now focus on being ready for the Provincials next month. Keep checking the calendar for new events.

Friday Mar 4th Playdown vs Markham/Stouffville Stars (T 0-0)

@Clippers Arena

Would you believe it? The final game of the Provincial Playdowns double round robin and our un-defeated Hawks needed only a tie to win the right to represent York region. And they pulled it off! Amazing! They did give just about every parent a heart attack in the process, but all is forgiven. Congratulations to all our Golden Hawk players and all our coaching staff too on a terrific achievement.

The Provincial Championship Tournament is scheduled for April 8-10th. According to the OWHA web site, Bantam A games will be played in Vaughan. The location of the games could change, we will monitor/advise.

So next we get to do it all again on Sunday Mar 6th against the Stars, this time in a winner take all game to advance to the Bantam A play-off finals. Hang on to your hats!

Tuesday Mar 1st Playoffs Round 2 vs Markham/Stouffville Stars (W 3-1)

With their backs against the wall the Hawks needed to find some magic and they did just that. Determined play and better passing saw the Hawks apply pressure in this game. When a five on three situation came up they made the most of it scoring twice in just few seconds. The first by Jillian and the second by Emma. Later on a third goal was added by Katie. The Stars got one in this game but that was all thanks to some stellar saves by Alyssa. Fantastic work team!

Monday Feb 28th Playoffs Round 2 vs Markham/Stouffville Stars (L 3-0)

Again vs MS but this time in playoff action. The Hawks put out a strong effort but nothing seemed to really click in this game. The stars got one in first on a break-away, one more in a scramble during the second and an empty netter in the dying seconds.

Saturday Feb 26th Playdown vs Markham/Stouffville Stars (T 0-0)

The first period saw the Hawks start out a little slowly giving the Stars a few opportunities, but Alyssa was there for some great stops. By the second period the Hawks started working together and some nice passing, skating and fore-checking resulted in several good chances. Nobody could put one in the net though and the game finished with no score. Still it was an exciting game. Get ready for lots more of the same between these two teams in the coming days.

Saturday Feb 19th Playdown vs Vaughan Flames 1502 (T 2-2)

Monday Feb 14th Playdown vs Vaughan Flames 1511 (W 2-1)

Sunday Feb 13th Playdown vs Vaughan Flames 1511 (T 1-1)

More playdown action with Vaughan, this time with 1511 team. This was a very exciting game with lots of rushes, chances and saves both ways. Vaughan struck first with a goal from the high slot that ricocheted high off the post and in. But the Hawks were not discouraged and kept coming back with more shots and close calls through the rest of the first and the second but without reward. Into the third and a a couple more chances where it seemed that the puck could not possibly stay out. Finally with just a couple of minutes remaining Jillian got the long-awaited goal. There was no more scoring so the Hawks would settle for the point and try again tomorrow in a visit to Vaughan this time.

Sunday Feb 6th Playdown vs Vaughan Flames 1502 (W 3-0)

While the Hawks waited for the first round of the playoffs to finish, they got rolling with the Provincial Playdowns. It started off back and forth but mid-way thru the first Bianca made a nice rush which was broken up but after going around the net and heading back to her defensive position a loose puck appeared right in front of her which she quickly snapped inside the far post. One nothing Hawks. No scoring in the second but the Hawks seemed to be playing defensively. In the third the Flames came on strong getting very close. A time-out got things settled somewhat, and with five minutes left in the game, Rachael grabbed the puck, in almost the same spot as the first goal, and she put one low and into the back of the net. Two to nothing Hawks. The Flames had to pull their goalie but again it was Rachael who picked up the puck and made a nice shot from the blue line into the empty net for the three nothing win.

Sunday Jan 30th vs Whitby Wolves 4863 (L 3-1)

This game was not going to affect the standings but the Hawks came to play. A spirited defence and Alyssa playing strong in net found the first period over with no score. Into the second and a perfect tip-in by Rachael gave the Hawks the lead. A parade of players going into the box from both sides, kept this game interesting but it allowed Whitby to tie it up. Then later a scramble in front put the Wolves in front. Mid way thru the third another loose puck in front somehow found its way under a sprawling Alyssa. And that was how it ended. The regular season is now done and our Hawks did themselves proud earning a second place berth going into the post-season. Bring on the Playoffs!

Saturday Jan 29th vs Markham Stouffville Stars (T 2-2)

This was the Stars last regular season game and they were only one point behind the Hawks. So our girls needed a win or a tie to secure second place going into the LL play-offs. It didn't start out well when in the first minute the Stars scored a breakaway goal. Fortunately The Hawks answered seconds later with a goal by either Kendra or Katie. After that things quieted down and there was no more scoring until the third period. A pass out from behind the net to a waiting Brianne who one-timed it home (just like on Friday) put the Hawks on top. The Stars were not about to give up yet, and a scramble in front of Hawks net resulted in the tying goal. More nail-biting was to come when the Hawks took a penalty with less than two minutes left and and this let Stars pull the goalie for a two player advantage. But the Goldenhawks held them off to get the tie and hold on to second. Great job girls!

Friday Jan 28th vs Clarington Flames (W 2-1)

Both teams really wanted to win this game and the pace was fast with lots of action at both ends. Brianne scored in the first when she smacked a rebound out of the air and in. They added another one with a goal by Madie (her third in the last two games). The Flames got one back so it came down to the end with the Hawks needing to hold on just a little longer. The Flames were pressing hard and shot fired from the point rang off the crossbar with a couple of seconds left, but it stayed out and the Hawks earned the win.

Sunday Jan 23rd vs Durham West Lightning (W 3-1)

A home game this time and one that was filled lots of action at both ends of the rink. The Hawks scored first with a beautiful pass by Brianne across to Madie who wristed it home. Shortly after the Lightning tied it up but that didn't last long. Some great stick-handling by Emma saw her move in from the blue line to right in front where she fired it home. Madie got her second goal of the game on a shot from just inside the blue line that beat the goalie. Final score Hawks 3, Lightning 1. Way to go girls.

Saturday Jan 22nd vs Whitby Wolves #4841 (L 3-0)

A long trek to Whitby, hampered by snow, and with another short bench but this didn't stop the Hawks from putting up a strong defensive effort in this final game against the first place Wolves. Alyssa came up with some wonderful saves and going into the third period the difference was just one slim goal. The Wolves did get a couple more before the end but all in all a good defensive job by our girls.

Saturday Jan 15th vs Markham/Stouffville Stars(L 1-0)

This game shaped up to be the battle for 4th place as both teams were tied in the standings. Down three players for this game we thank Kate for stepping in to help us out. It was a hard fought game and Alyssa had to make a number of great saves throughout the game to keep MS off the scoresheet. The Hawks had their chances too with a couple of 5 on 3 situations but the MS goalie held them out. Then with the Hawks short-handed for the final two minutes of the game, and the Stars pressing hard, an MS player finally tipped in a shot right in front of the net with only 20 seconds left. Ouuch! . . . But at least we still have the rubber match against Markham in two weeks time.

Sunday Jan 9th vs Clarington Flames (W 3-1)

This was the make-up game for the one postphoned due to the snow storm. The Hawks were short on the bench today even with call-ups Brianne and Kate in uniform. This was a back a forth game, but the Flames with home ice advantage scored first. The Hawks came right back with goals from Kate and Bianca to take the lead. The score remained 2 to 1 until late in the third when the Flames pulled their goalie. But it was Kate who grabbed a loose puck and skated in on a break-away sealing the game with her second goal of the night. Good work by all of the Hawk players earned the team a victory and jumped them up to 4th place in the standings. Well Done!

Sunday Jan 2nd vs Aurora Panthers (L 6-0)

It wasn't because of lack of effort but more that the Hawks had to play this game completely hand-cuffed. If you saw this game then you know what I mean. It was one goal in the first, one more in the second and four in the third.

Sun Dec 19th vs Clarington Flames (L 2-1)

The Flames came out strong in the first period and somehow managed to get two goals. After that the Hawks decided to get moving and took the edge in shots for the second period but no goals. In the third, a nice rush by Bianca lead to a juicy rebound from the Flames goalie onto Emma's stick who put it in the back of the net. Some penalties against Clarington and pulled goalie gave Georgina a chance with a six-on-three at the end, but it was not to be. The Hawks again had the edge in shots for the third period and the game overall.

Sat Dec 18th Evening vs Belleville Bearcats (W 1-0)

The second game of the day with Belleville turned out to be a very fast-paced game featuring many strong rushes, lots of shots, and some of the best passing we've seen by the Hawks. This time it was in the first period that Bianca found the back of the net for what turned out to be the game winner. The rest of the game was just as exciting. The shot edge went to Georgina in this game but still, some terrific saves were needed. Alyssa was gloving them all to hold off Belleville and earn the Hawks a second shut-out in a row. A great game by all the Hawks!

Sat Dec 18th Afternoon vs Belleville Bearcats (W 1-0)

This was the opener of a 'double-header' with the visiting Bearcats. The game was a hard-fought one with chances being had a both ends but with an edge in shots going to the Bearcats. The score remained at zero until the final couple of minutes of the game when Jillian was able to bang home a rebound for the game winner. The Hawks held on controlling the puck and preventing Belleville from pulling their goalie. Two well matched opponents.

Friday Dec 17th vs Aurora Panthers (L 3-0)

The Hawks played on the Panthers home ice this time. The Panthers controlled most of the play getting a number of chances but some good defence over two periods saw the Hawks start the third period only down by one goal. Play opened up a bit in the third, but saw no goals for our Hawks. Aurora got two more and the game finished at 3 to nothing.

Markham Stouffville Tournament Game 3 Sunday Dec 12th vs Burlington Barracudas (T 0-0)

It was back to Angus Glen for the final round robin game this evening. This whas a close game all the way through with both teams evenly matched. There were a few good chances but no one could find the back of the net. Special mention goes to Alyssa for a spectacular glove save late in the third period when a Burlington player got loose in the slot and let go a hard wrist shot. That was a game saver and preserved the tie for the Hawks. This put the Hawks in second place for our pool, but not enough to claim the wild card spot into the semi-finals. All in all, a good tournament for the Goldenhawks.

Markham Stouffville Tournament Game 2 Staurday Dec 11th vs Vaughan Flames (W2-1)

Coach Brian decided to mix things up today with some forwards and defence switching positions. Vaughan struck first to take the lead. There were some early nerves but they didn't seem to last as the Hawks gained momentum. They tied it up on a nice backhard by Emma in front of the net. Then with time running out in the period Jillian slipped in one more to take the lead and win the period. The second and third periods saw no more goals but a very good offensive effort by the Hawks lead them to 23 shots on goal to Vaughan's 22. A very good showing. Two points for the win and 2 secondary points for period play.

Markham Stouffville Tournament Game 1 Friday Dec 10th vs Oakville Hornets (L 2-0)

This game started out a little slowly for the Hawks as the Hornets controlled the play for the first several minutes. Then the Hawks picked up the pace for the rest of the period but still neither team could score. Half a point to each team. The second was an exciting period with chances at both ends. Oakville managed to capitalize on two, while the Hawks had an apparent goal called back. One point to Oakville for the period. A stalemate in the third did not change the score and the game ended two to zero for Oakville. The Hawks earned 1 secondary point for period play.

Saturday Dec 4th vs Aurora Panthers (L2-0)

If there is such a thing as a good loss then this was one. The Hawks played a much stronger defensive game this time around. They limited the Panthers shots and number of opportunities. One goal came in the first and one in the second while Alyssa was totally screened. The third period which has been trouble for our Hawks, was played with much more energy and enhusiasm and they did not allow any goals. Very good effort.

Saturday November 27th vs Whitby 4841 (L 6-0)

Another game against Whitby, and the result was almost a carbon copy of the game two weeks ago. The Hawks put up a good fight and Alyssa made many great saves to keep it close. Starting the third period the Hawks were only down by two and the game could have gone either way. But an early power play goal for the Wolves set the tone for the third. This seemed to fire the Wolves up and they proceded to add 3 more goals by the end of the game. Penalties hurt this game as, despite some good penalty killing effort, three of the first four goals were scored with Hawks in the box. The Hawks didn't give up though and had a couple of really good scoring chances at the end. Some nice puck control behind the net by Jade and a feed to Rachael in the crease came 'Oh so close'. Keep working hard girls.

Saturday Nov 20th vs Whitby 4863 (L 1-0)

This was a physical game, but it seemed that the majority of penalties went against the Hawks making it very hard for them to get much offence going. From the start the Wolves took possession of the puck and they were shooting from everywhere at Alyssa. But it wasn't until the very end of the first period, while short-handed, that the Hawks finally gave up a goal. The second period saw Georgina get some better puck possession and generate some shots but no goals. The third period saw an exciting break-away for Madie but the Whitby goalie came up big to hang on to their one goal lead. More Georgina penalties and more Whitby shots followed, especially during a long 5 on 3 at the end of the game. The Hawks kept the Wolves at bay, but could not get the equalizer. Special mention goes to Alyssa for a great performance given the 48 shots fired at her.

Sunday Nov 14th Game vs Whitby 4841 (L 5-0)

The strong Whitby wolves came to town on Sunday and it was going to be a tough game. Our Hawks really put out a good effort and they kept the opposition shot count quite low for the first period. The Wolves only managed one goal in the first and another in the second period. It was early in the third when Whitby got rolling and they put in a string of three more goals before the game ended at 5 to none. Still it was a good effort shown by the Hawks.

Saturday Nov 13 - Game vs Durham West Lightning (W 4-1)

The Hawks travelled to Pickering for the second meeting with the Lightning this season. Both teams battled in the neutral zone a lot this game with the puck acting at times like a ping-pong ball but eventually Chelsea slipped in behind the last defence player and scored one between the pads, assisted by Kendra. Moving on to the second period and the Lightning score one of their own to tie it up. But shortly after, Kendra passed to Emma who passed to Amanda who rushed across the blue line, made a couple of nice moves to get open, and then fired a georgeous shot into the top right corner of the net to re-establish the lead, 2 -1. Period three now, and the Hawks strike again, this time Rachael scored one just inside the post from a rebound of a shot by, who else, Kendra. That's three. With time running out, Durham pulled their goalie but it did not help them as Jillian grabbed a loose puck and made a nice long shot into the empty net to finish the game at 4 to 1. Durham West outshot us 23-13.

Tuesday Nov 9th - Game vs Aurora Panthers (L 6-0)

After a busy weekend in St. Catharines going to the finals, The Goldenhawks went right back to work in a regular season game with the Panthers. Anyone looking at the final score of this game would not be be getting the whole story. They played well for two full periods giving up only one goal at the very end of the second. The Hawks were a little unlucky a couple of times in this game. The first was when a shot went off both posts and stopped on the line but stayed out. And later, Kate was breaking through the Aurora defence when she was hauled down from behind and awarded a penaly shot. She came in shooting high, beating the Aurora goalie, hitting the crossbar and sending the puck straight up and back down, coming to a rest just beside the post. No goal.

Then in the third period the Hawks seemed to run completely out of gas. They stopped skating with Aurora who peppered the net with shots, putting in five more goals. They deserved a better result.

Sunday Nov 7th - St Catharines Tournament

Finals vs Brampton (L 3-0)

Sunday afternoon entertainment saw our Hawks matched up again with Brampton for the final. Knowing what to expect, the Hawks played defensive in the first period to hold Brampton back until the Hawks could enact their plan of attack. The Hawks began to fight back late in the first and showed they could match Brampton. As the game opened up, Brampton got on the board first with more chippy work in front of the net - Brampton 1-0. The second period yielded nothing from both teams but more notably, the aggression level increased as the refs accepted the roughness. The third period was a very even match but once again, with a few minutes to go, Brampton pounced on a rebound to make it 2-0. As the game wound down and with roughly 1 minute left, Brampton popped an empty netter to seal the win at 3-0. We had our chances and showed our ability to match skill with the more aggressive teams. Alyssa took the game MVP award. Shots were 17-14 in favour of Brampton. The Hawks played awesome - a well deserved Finalist medallion.

Saturday Nov 6th PM- St Catharines Tournament

Game 3 vs Brampton (L 2-1)

Tables were turned as the Hawks were up against Brampton, the same matchup for the finals Sunday. A prelude game saw Brampton start strong and scoring even before the Hawks got their first shot. It didn't look good. Even Tori's Dracula eyes weren't enough to force Brampton into submission. The Hawks came alive in the second half of the first period to bring the shots closer to even but we weren't able to effectively press the net. Much of the same in the second as the Hawks continued to defend and prevent Brampton from increasing the lead. The battle became physical and our girls have to bruises to prove it. Brianne and Bridget fell to injury but the expertise of Trainer Dale revived them to play once more. The Hawks struck early in the third as Jade fed the middle of the slot where Jillian expertly freed herself from the clutches of the Brampton defence and wired a shot in the top corner to even the game at 1. With a few minutes to go in the third, no holds barred in front of the Hawks net and this intense melee eventually netted Brampton the winning goal. The Hawks know what to expect tomorrow! Points for this game went to Jillian and Jade. Shots went in favour of Brampton 21-12.

Saturday Nov 6th AM- St Catharines Tournament

Game 2 vs Hamilton Hawks (W 3-1)

Once again the G-Hawks started strong in game 2 against Hamilton (the H-Hawks). An early penalty by Hamilton proved to our advantage. During the powerplay, the G-Hawks controlled play and with 20 seconds to go in the penalty, Bridget took a shot from the point which bounced off a leg to Bianca's stick and she planted the puck into the net - G-Hawks 1-0. We finished the 1st period up in shots 9-3. The G-Hawks coasted in the 2nd period not posting a shot until the H-Hawks had 5 more tallied. Our G-Hawks managed to escape the 2nd period even in shots, 7-7, and kept the H-Hawks off the board with Alyssa's stellar performance. On to the third and the H-Hawks tied the game early to change the complexion of the game. It started to get physical and both teams took turns warming the bench in the penalty box. Halfway through the third, Bianca broke through off an interesting deflected feed from Katie. Bianca made no mistake, pulled to her backhand in front of the Hamilton goalie and roofed the puck to make it 2-1 for the G-Hawks. The additional assist went to Ashley. In the dying seconds, Hamilton pulled their goalie to attempt the equalizer but a steal by Chelsea allowed her to press through all alone to secure the game with empty netter. Points went to Bianca (x2), Chelsea, Bridget, Katie and Ashley. Final shots were Georgina 26, Hamilton 13. We advance to the finals with this win! GO G-HAWKS GO!!!!

Friday Nov 5th- St Catharines Tournament

Game 1 vs Scarborough (W 1-0)

Georgina came out strong against Scarborough to start us off for this Tournament. An early penalty by Scarborough gave the Hawks that kick start. They dominated play in the Sharks end and just as the penalty ended, Madie wound up with a shot from the point. The shot was deflected by a Shark player right to Katie's stick who shot it low just inside the right post - Hawks 1-0. The Sharks mounted a comeback in the second period as they evened the shot tally against our Hawks - however Alyssa stayed strong and kept the Sharks off the board. The Hawks turned up the heat in the third limiting the Sharks chances and even with the Sharks net empty in the dying minute, the Hawks kept coming (but somehow missed the open net). Shots went in favour of the Hawks, 21-17 with points to Katie and Madie. A special mention goes to Chelsea's skates for her fantastic pink tape job that hypnotized our opponents.

Sunday Oct 31st - Game vs Whitby 4863 (T 2-2)

This was the first time we have played this Whitby team but similar to the day before, in less than two minutes the opposition was up by one. Very strong forechecking by the Wolves seemed to keep us trapped in our own end most of the first period. The second period thngs changed and the Hawks evened it up with a goal by Rachael assisted by Emma on a scramble in front of the net. After that the Hawks seemed much more lively. Then with less than four minutes left in the game Whitby grabbed a loose puck in front and put it in. The girls didn't give up though, and with twenty seconds to go, either Chelsea or Jade, nobody is sure which one, scored assisted by Julia to steal away a point from Whitby.

Saturday Oct 30th - Game vs Belleville Bearcats (L 3-0)

It was a long drive to Belleville for this one and maybe too long. The Bearcats jumped out to quick lead only a minute and half in. The teams traded shots fairly evenly this game but Belleville gradually extended their lead to 3 by the end.

Shots on goal Georgina 19, Belleville 18.

Sunday Oct 24th - Game vs Durham West (W 2-0)

Finally our first game of the regular season has arrived! Our Hawks came on strong in the first period getting a number of good chances until Bianca made a nice wrap-around the net and across to Rachael who quickly popped it in for the first goal. The second period saw Durham West pressing and getting a lot of shots but each one was denied by Alyssa who was sharp today. In the third, Katie made a great feed out of our zone to Chelsea who broke away and scored a nice five hole goal. Thank you to our call-ups Kate and Nicole for helping us out today. Well done! Congratulations to all the girls for their first shut-out victory of the regular season.

Shots on goal: Georgina 15, Durham West 18. The Toonie board winner was Dave Harvey.

Sunday Oct 17th Clarington Applefest Tournament

Game 4 vs Clarington Flames (L 4-2)

With a chance to advance to the finals riding on the outcome, the girls got off to a great early start. Just 43 seconds in, Bianca cut off a Flame's pass and made a great feed from the corner to a perfectly positioned Emma, who slapped it home. Hopes for a runaway faded as the Flames caught and then built a two goal lead until there were only 90 seconds left. Not done yet, the Hawks pulled the goalie in a last ditch effort and were rewarded with a nice goal by Jade assisted by Rachael and Emma. But with the net still empty, it was Clarington that finally slipped one in to end the game. This was the second multi-goal game in a row for our girls.

Player of the game was Rachael.

Saturday Oct 16th Clarington Applefest Tournament

Game 3 vs Belleville Bearcats (W 2-0)

Fantastic! There was much celebrating today as the Hawks earned their first win, as well as their first shut-out and their first multi-goal game. The first goal was scored by Jade assisted by Madie and Bianca. The second goal was scored by Chelsea assisted by Jade and Brianne. Way to go Girls!

Player of the game was Bridget.

Friday Oct 15th Clarington Applefest Tournament

Game 2 vs North York storm (L 2-1)

This evening's game was a totally different game from the afternoon one. The Hawks were taking control of the puck and pressing hard on the North York goalie who had to come up many big saves. Bianca put us on the board with a goal in the first assisted by Jade. But during the second a controversial goal was awarded to the Storm which tied it up. More hard work by our Hawks resulted in a couple of breakwaways and posts but no goals. North York got one more in the third and it ended 2 to 1, but there much good to be said in this game. All the hard work lately in practices is going to pay off. Keep it up girls.

Player of the game was Chelsea.

Friday Oct 15th Clarington Applefest Tournament

Game 1 vs Whitby Wolves (L 6-0)

The player of the game was Katie.

Saturday Oct 2nd Exhibition game vs Orangeville (L 2-0)

This was an fairly evenly matched game going end to end with great saves each way. It was a tip right in front that put the Tigers on the board and it remained that way until the Tigers got an empty netter with 90 seconds left. The game was then called on curfew time. The Hawks did a good job of reducing their 'shots against' number this game. The shots were even for the game. Overall a strong effort.

The Toonie board winner was Kendra White!

Friday Oct 1st Exhibition game at Aurora (L 2-0)

In a rematch with the Panthers, this time at the Magna Center, the Hawks came out strong taking the play to the opposition end and staying there. Then a Hawk penalty seemed to bring the Panthers alive. They got one goal, but then Alyssa shut the door, repeatedly making spectacular saves and keeping the game close. Our girls managed a couple of good chances of their own and did a good job fending off their fast, quick passing opponents right to the end of the game. A 5 on 3 finally gave the Panthers another goal to end it.

The Toonie board winner was Jillian Booth!

Saturday Sept 25th Oshawa Tournament

Game 3 vs Toronto Leaside (L 3-1)

The Hawks came ready to play today and started strong. They scored the game's first goal while on the powerplay, coming from a hard slapshot by Amanda off a defender in front of the net. Leaside came back though, eventually scoring three unanswered goals to take the game.

Summary
Goal: Amanda.
The Toonie board winner was . . . Brianne Sing

Friday Sept 23rd Oshawa Tournament

Game 2 vs Whitby (L 3-0)

The Whitby Wolves applied steady pressure during this game netting 3 goals by the final buzzer. The Hawks had some good shifts racking up shots, but couldn't get one past the Whitby goalie.

The Toonie board winner was . . . Jayne Harvey!

Friday Sept 23rd Oshawa Tournament

Game 1 vs Markham/Stouffville (T 0-0)

The Hawks survived a strong flurry of shots early in the game with some strong goaltending by Alyssa. After that, the Hawks settled down and got some shots of their own. In the end, neither team could beat the goalies, ending the game in a draw.

The Toonie board winner was . . . The Team!

Saturday Sept 18th Exh vs Vaughan (L 3-1)

For our second Exhibition game of the season the Vaughan Flames visited Georgina. Our girls put out a very strong effort for this game. A couple of lapses resulted in two early Vaughan goals, but some nice passing plays lead to a number of good opportunities throughout the game. A nice rush capped off with a hard shot by Bianca put the GoldenHawks on the board but that was all they could get. The game ended 3-1.

Summary
Bianca 1 goal, Julia 1 assist.
The Toonie board winner was . . . Kelly Mawby!

Sunday Sept 12th Exh vs Aurora (L 3-0)

The Goldenhawks hosted the Aurora Panthers for our first exhibition game of the season. The girls played well given it was their first game, and Alyssa came up with some great saves, but Aurora scored one in the first and added two more in the second to hand the Hawks a 3-0 loss.

The Toonie board winner was . . . Susan Booth!
